In an effort to spark students’ interest in spelling and expanding their vocabulary, Chamlian conducts an annual Spelling Bee competition open to students in grades 4 through 6. To begin, each classroom conducts an internal Spelling Bee, after which each teacher submits the names of three finalists to compete in the school wide competition. We are proud of all our finalists and the first place winner, Raffi Zakarian, who will go on to compete in the LA County Spelling Bee! Dr. Kargodorian was very proud of all the students. Today students welcomed Officer Sholtis and Officer Meyer from the Glendale Police Department and their K-9 deputy, Jeff! The third graders recently read and learned about a K-9's role in helping our community and were able to see their lesson in action as Jeff demonstrated his training and abilities and helped bring their story to life! Today we had the opportunity to host Chamlian prospective parents and students during our Open House! Parents received a tour of our state of the art facilities, met our dedicated administrators, teachers and staff, and learned about all our dynamic programs. Our 6th - 8th grade students participated in Holy Christmas Service this morning led by Reverend Father Movses Shannakian. Our students followed faithfully and attentively as Rev. Movses delivered a sermon and Christmas message to carry them into coming weeks. He reminded our dear students to focus on the true meaning of Christmas, explained the reasons behind Armenian Christmas being celebrated in January, as well as provided blessings for their upcoming exams. The Chamlian Booster Club giving back to the community this Thanksgiving! Our Booster Club students organized a school wide canned food drive to be donated to the ARS WR for their food drive initiative. Thanks to all the wonderful Chamlian families, our school was able to collect over 2600 cans of food which will be distributed to needy Armenian families throughout Southern California.
