Armenian Schools Recitation Contest Participants sponsored by the Western Prelacy Board of Regents.

Chamlian Armenian School and The Character Counts Crew would like to express its sincere gratitude to the entire Chamlian family for the generous support of the “Pasta/Pasta Sauce” Donation Drive. Your donation of much needed pasta and pasta sauce for the homeless families and adults was delivered to Ascencia. These donations enable the center to help their clients maintain a sense of normalcy and dignity during a very difficult time in their lives.

On Sunday, March 5th, 2017, the Armenian Engineers and Scientists of America (AESA) held its 16th Annual Science Olympiad at California State University of Northridge. The competition, organized by AESA's Science Olympiad Committee, promotes engineering and sciences within middle school and high school students through mentoring programs and the annual Science Olympiad.

In an effort to promote the importance of literacy, Chamlian celebrated Read Across America Day on Thursday, March 2, 2017. Read Across America is an annual reading motivation and awareness program that calls for every child in every community to celebrate reading on March 2nd, the birthday of beloved children's author, Dr. Seuss.

On February 27th, 2017, Chamlian Armenian School’s second grade students celebrated Paragentan ~ "Day of Great Lent" with a special performance for their parents, organized by the Armenian Department.
Students marked the day through various performances, which included Armenian folk songs and short plays. The 2nd grade classes was packed with beaming parents as they happily watched their children perform.

Chamlian Armenian School’s fourth grade students celebrated St. Vartanants Day with a special performance organized by the Armenian Department, for their grandparents on Wednesday, February 22, 2017. Students marked the day through various performances, which included poetry recitations, Armenian folk songs, and short plays. The 4th grade classes was packed with beaming grandparents as they happily watched their grandchildren perform.

On Tuesday, February 21, 8th grade students visited UCLA. While on campus, students met with Armenian Students' Association (ASA) External Vice-President, Mesrop Egiazaryan, as well as Chamlian alumni, Jacqueline Postajian and Varant Anmahouni.

In an effort to spark students’ interest in spelling, Chamlian conducts an annual Spelling Bee competition open to students in grades 4 through 6. To begin, each classroom conducts an internal Spelling Bee, after which each teacher submits the names of three finalists to compete in the school wide competition.We are proud of our 35 finalists and the first place winner, Maria Miwalian, who will go on to compete in the LA County Spelling Bee on March 29, 2017.

3rd Grade participated in a planetarium show about our solar system given by one of the Glendale Community College astronomy professors. Our students also participated in activities to explain and illustrate force and motion.
