In January homeroom teachers were given Kindness Jars to fill up with beans every time a student was caught doing a kind act. These jars were collected and the outcome was very positive with so many beans being collected in the jars.

The Glendale Fire Department has been proudly sponsoring the Junior Fire Program for 5th grade students in the city of Glendale. On February 8, 2017 Chamlian’s 5th grade students received a highly anticipated visit from retired Fire-fighter and Education Specialist at the Glendale Police and Fire Academy, Mr. John Wray, who presented the program to our students. Students learned about the fire triangle, emergency preparedness, fire safety rules, and a lot more.

On December 15, 2016, Chamlian took another step forward to enhance its facilities with the ground breaking and official kick off of the construction phase of the Anita Torosian Literacy and Resource Center project. The entire Chamlian family gathered together and literally broke ground to mark the beginning of a new project to transform its current library to a state of the art literacy and technology center. Information was shared regarding the process for planning and designing the space, as well as the direction, vision and mission for embarking on this grand project.

6th-8th grade students received their 1st Semester Principal's Honor Roll Certificates! We are so proud of each and every one of you! A special thank you to our Keynote Speaker, Antreas Hindoyan (proud member of Chamlian Class of '93), for delivering an inspiring speech.

Shakespearience! is a theatre arts experience, where students find a safe, nurturing, creative environment. A place that offers and fosters expansive thinking and boundless imagination.
Our 8th grade students watched a dynamic performance that featured a collection of Shakespeare's classic plays!

The final round of the National Geography Bee at the school level was held on January 30, 2017. After nine exciting rounds, 6th grader Nareg Simitian was declared the champion. This is Nareg's second year winning the school's Geography Bee competition. Nareg will take a written test for an opportunity to move on to the next round at the state level. Congratulations to all the finalists for their hard work and commitment.

On January 25, 2017, a special ribbon cutting ceremony took place to unveil our newest mural. Entitle, Facets of the Future, the 5th grade students, along with their homeroom and art teachers created the mural in the fifth grade hallway. The future belongs to our students and they will continue to grow and bring their ideas to life.

4th grade experienced an interactive wildlife presentation through the Education through Nature program! Students were given the opportunity to become active participants throughout the presentation. In addition to interacting with an array of fascinating animals, the students learned the importance of environmental conservation and how to be respectful towards all living things.

Chamlian’s 1st-6th grade students participated in the KINDNESS ADVENTURE assembly, where they took a virtual trip to Kenya in order to better understand the importance of KINDNESS. Ms. Mallory, the presenter, used storytelling, music, interactive videos, magical illusions, and student participation, to emphasize the importance of acceptance and kindness.

On Sunday, January 15th, our Chamlian 4th-6th students participated in the 126th Anniversary for the ARF celebration at Glendale High School John Wayne Performing Arts Center. Our students concluded the program with a lively choir performance and was highly appreciated by the audience.
