Hello, my name is Evelyn Keshishian, and I have the privilege of being part of the Chamlian Armenian School community since 2002. Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to wear many hats, but currently, I serve as the department chair for the Social Studies department, where I also teach 6th and 7th grades. My journey in education has been deeply fulfilling, and I’m committed to fostering a dynamic and engaging learning environment for my students.
Academically, I hold a B.S. in Education with a minor in Biology, which has given me a strong foundation to understand the diverse needs of my students and craft lessons that are both informative and captivating. Additionally, I’ve completed my teacher credential units, ensuring that I’m equipped with the latest pedagogical strategies to support my students’ academic growth.
Outside the classroom, I’m someone who thrives on adventure. Whether it’s exploring new cultures through travel or trying out thrilling new sports, I believe that these experiences enrich my life and, in turn, allow me to bring a fresh perspective to my teaching. I’m always looking for ways to infuse this sense of adventure and curiosity into my lessons, making social studies not just a subject to be learned, but a journey to be experienced.
My goal as an educator is to make social studies interesting, relevant, and accessible for all my students. I want them to see history, geography, and civics not just as subjects to study but as lenses through which they can better understand the world and their place in it. By connecting the past to the present and encouraging critical thinking, I strive to help my students become informed, empathetic, and active citizens.
