Ms. Aleena Sivazlian

Anchored by my educational background in Communication Disorders and Sciences from California State University, Northridge, my most treasured and fulfilling role has been that of a teacher. This work allows me to passionately pursue the goal of helping young minds think critically and independently, guided by Robert Hutchins’ belief that the true purpose of education is to teach students to think for themselves.

In the classroom, I focus not only on imparting knowledge but on inspiring a love for learning, critical thinking, and self-discovery. My teaching journey has included serving as a teacher’s assistant in the primary grades and teaching both first and third grade. Each role has deepened my commitment to nurturing the growth and development of my students.

Outside of teaching, I enjoy traveling, which broadens my perspective and enriches what I bring to the classroom, and spending quality time with friends and family, which reminds me of the importance of community and connection. I am also deeply committed to serving others, volunteering with children, and engaging in community service through AYF and AYF Camp—efforts that align with my dedication to supporting the Armenian community and beyond.

I am guided by the belief that “The purpose of education is not to fill the minds of students with facts… It is to teach them to think, if that is possible, and always to think for themselves.” In all that I do, my goal is to create an environment where students feel encouraged to explore, question, and grow.
